Overseas Chinese can apply for Singapore PR through four mainstream official channels, covering professional workers, entrepreneurs, students and family reunion applicants:
- GIP Global Investor Program (High-Net-Worth Entrepreneurs)
- Family Reunification Pathway
In the official review system, family joint applications are far more advantageous than individual applications. Stable and uninterrupted work and tax records are key plus points for approval. In contrast, long-term absence from Singapore, unstable employment, incomplete tax records, and insufficient local life ties will significantly reduce the approval probability.
- Work and Tax Documents: Valid EP/S pass, employer employment certificate, recent 6-month salary slips, latest IRAS Notice of Assessment (NOA); self-employed applicants need to provide company registration certificates, business licenses and financial statements
The official application fee is SGD 100. The standard approval cycle is 4 to 12 months. Applicants need to respond to ICA’s document supplementation notices in a timely manner during the review period. After approval, applicants will receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter, and complete physical examination and biometric information collection to activate the official PR status. - Male applicants with dependent sons under 21 need to fully understand Singapore’s National Service obligations to avoid subsequent policy conflicts.
Overseas Chinese are advised to conduct a comprehensive self-assessment before submitting a PR application, matching their personal background with the most suitable application pathway. For applicants with insufficient qualifications, it is recommended to accumulate 2 to 3 years of high-quality local work, tax and life records to optimize personal application competitiveness. Hasty submission will easily lead to rejection, and the rejection record will adversely affect subsequent re-application.
